The story of our founder, the late Haji Ajmal Ali, is an inspiring one. Born into a family of rice farmers in Alinagar, a small village in Hojai, Assam, India, Ajmal Ali realized at a very young age that agriculture would not be enough to support him and his family.
He had heard about the oudh trade and how it could be a good source of income for families in his hometown. He decided to try his luck with the jungle and this decision would lay the foundations of Ajmal.
In 1951, with a capital of just 500 rupees, he decided to move to Mumbai, India and opened his first shop on Nagdevi Street in Crawford Market. The rest, as they say, is history. With honesty, hard work, sincerity and dedication, he slowly and steadily built his business. With his sons joining the business, within two decades the family had planted the seeds of the Ajmal brand and grown them into a mighty tree.
Thus, a simple farmer embarked on an extraordinary journey to become a world-class perfumer.
